This car was converted from S3 DHC to S4 SE DHC in England and registered 1971-01-01 as "Lotus Elan S4 Sprint SE". It was owned by one user in Bristol and bought by second owner in 1976. The car was imported to Sweden, Stockholm by the second owner the same year. I bought the car 2013-08-25 as the third owner. The special equipment I have found is alternator, 3,55:1 final drive, chrome sill strip, brake booster, Wheel spinners and original wheels chrome rings. Cams were of B specification. Regarding the S4 update the complete interior is S4 with correct steering wheel, rocker switches, door handles, seats, the narrow radiator, all four wheel aches and bulged bonnet. It have been of the road since early 2017 for a complete chassis overhaul with 26R reinforcements, all new bushes. Springs and dampers are TTR Fast Road "optimal comfort". CV drive shafts from RDent.com are fitted. All brake components are rebuilt. The engine has been completely rebuilt with a 711M bolck and crank , std PowerLite pistons, carrillo cons giving 1660cc. Inlet valves are G&S Groupe II 39,8mm, outlet 35,0 mm. Compression 11,4. It uses the original head, valve cover and sump. The old bottom end is saved for the future. B-cams were reground to 290° 9,88 lift. 133ibft @ 5300 rpm. Gearbox is currently standard Elan 2,98 semi close, but both a Lotus 5 speed and an ultra close 2,29 Motorsport Buttet GTS/RS box from Escort are ready to be fitted. |
